Who we are

Facilities Management, in the Division of Operations, is an emerging department which coordinates and provides follow-up on the maintenance, custodial, grounds, and utilities & energy services of the campus built environment in order to support the teaching and research mission of the university. Facility Management is a service focused department and will be the initial point of contact for all facilities related requests from maintenance to access on TAMU buildings, infrastructure, and amenities under the oversight of TAMU.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of facility access and video control security experience, which includes three years of supervisory experience.
  • Three years of related supervisory experience.

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Must have a State of Texas class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of security camera systems and operations.
  • Skills in project coordination, problem identification and problem solving, interpreting and applying policies, procedures and standards, prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines, making recommendations for access control security needs.
  • Ability to assess security risks associated with space, handle sensitive and confidential information and maintain confidentiality, work independently and prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to needed changes, effectively communicate both in writing and verbally, follow protocols and escalate as needed, effectively prioritize work requests, establish and maintain harmonious working relationships, work effectively with diverse academic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of the student body, staff, and community.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Other Requirements or Other Factors:

  • Position will require walking facilities, carrying and climbing ladders to access equipment.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer applications, data processing or business technology or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Five years of experience working with security technology systems for a complex organization, troubleshooting problems, analyzing information and data, designing queries and reports and creating operational policies and procedures.

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certification in access control and video system installation and operation

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Management - Responsible for the implementation and management of a campus video data acquisition system that will be designed to collect and memorialize data that can be used in the event of crime or be leveraged live during an unfolding incident. Responsible for developing a high performing system architecture that will be able to grow as the campus expands. The system should be capable of receiving data and feeds from external locations with no latency.
  • Supervision - Responsible for the daily management of the keyed access team and the installation of associated hardware and evaluates card activity system wide. Responsible for the daily management of the keyless access team and the installation of associated hardware. Responsible for ensuring that the staffing and budgeting constraints are being met for the teams managed.
  • Technical Administration - Assigns access based on established protocol and maintains access control permissions, working with Facilities staff and external vendors to ensure optimal performance configures schedules, holidays, time codes; alarm routing; and other functions. Trains others as needed. Performs evaluations and makes recommendations on installation of access control devices, cameras, and other hardware and the implementation of corresponding policies and procedures. Oversees campus Audio Visual Surveillance Technology (AVST).
  • Emergency Management - Oversees issues associated with outages, equipment failures, breakages, etc. Works with campus staff and vendors to determine and implement solutions. Oversees the production of reports that result from an event. Assists in the development of emergency response protocols as it relates to access control. Performance of these duties may require the usage of a motor vehicle to travel to various locations.
  • Liaison - Provides and obtains information, input, and recommendations as a liaison to internal departments, and participates in developing policy and procedure. Serves as the Facilities liaison for access control and video issues and coordinates with other University staff on access control and video issues, including IT, TAMUS Facilities Planning and Construction and TAMU Campus Planning Design and Construction. Performs other duties as assigned.
