Position Summary: 

The Vice President, Operations partners with the Chief Operating Officer/ Senior Vice President in developing strategic, operating, and financial plans to accomplish UCI Health's mission. The Incumbent provides leadership to the Orange Medical Center, oversite of the activation of the Irvine Medical Center as well as provides direct supervision for specified health system departments.  Has a key responsibility to partner with physician, nursing, operational and administrative leaders to achieve strategic, programmatic, and operational goals. Works closely with Senior Leadership throughout the health system to ensure that the Medical Center functions in a manner that is financially successful and delivers UCI Health's mission. Incumbent is accountable for the day-to-day operations of the Orange Medical Center, working with health system leaders ensuring throughput, patient experience and financial metrics/goals are met and sustained.  Serves as the primary point of contact for all operational matters at the Orange Medical Center and collaborates closely with health system leaders to align operations with organizational goals and standards.

Salary Range: 

 

Annual Rate  Minimum  $194,700.00                         Midpoint               $308,700.00                         Maximum              $422,700.00

 

Required Qualifications:

Ability to develop and implement programs and improve organizational performance

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload

Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

Strong planning, financial and analytical skills to provide effective leadership for assigned areas

Ability to successfully represent the UC Irvine Enterprise to the external community

Ability to successfully cross departmental lines of management to organize, guide and direct the development, delivery and marketing of assigned programs and services

Evidence of sound critical thinking skills and the ability to think creatively and strategically

Excellent negotiation skills and proven ability to influence others internal and external to the organization

Demonstrated ability to work across multidisciplinary teams

Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an executive leadership role (Director or higher) in an inpatient healthcare setting

Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties

Marketing knowledge and skills to successfully promote assigned programs and services

Bachelor’s degree in Health Care Administration, Business Management, or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience

Minimum 10 years’ experience of progressive management responsibility

 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

MBA or Masters in Healthcare Management or related field

Leadership experience in an academic medical center environment

Experience in Project Management and Lean Six Sigma as improvement tools

Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms
