Job Summary
 

The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for the comprehensive strategic planning, leadership, coordination, and management of the IT division including collaboratively supporting the organization to meet strategic goals, establishing the infrastructure to support data and analytics efforts across the institution, and leading a team that will ensure the effective, efficient and secure operation of all IT systems.  This includes ensuring that the IT organization is operating within compliance of the University and System office policies, processes, and standards.


Responsibilities
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for the strategic vision, direction and operational oversight of the University Information Technology Services (UITS) Division.
2. Foster an innovative and institutional focused IT organization that champions the use of technology in academics and the workplace while promoting continuous improvement and excellence.
3. Shape the central IT organization, including processes and structure, to create a proactive, high service delivery environment while managing customer and staff/faculty expectations.
4. Collaborate with Deans, Cabinet and other leaders to cultivate relationships and recommend solutions to meet the unique needs of each area.
5. Develop a sustainable IT strategic plan and roadmap to address the current and future needs of the institution that prioritizes driving innovative solutions, process improvement, and excellence to aid the University in achieving its overall goals.
6. Select and implement technology solutions to streamline internal operations, optimize strategic benefits and maximize student learning. Effectively lead a division of over 200 employees spanning multiple campuses.
7. Collaborate with the UITS division and campus community to procure a portfolio of
technological systems that advance the university's strategic needs. 8. Oversees the technological infrastructure (network and computer systems) in the university to ensure optimal performance.
9. Oversees the day-to-day operations of the Division including hiring, orienting, performance management, and development of staff who support all aspects of IT.
10. Oversees the strategic direction and, prioritization of IT related projects and deliverables.
11. Monitors changes and/or advancements in technology to discover ways the university can improve
12. Analyzes costs, value, and risks of information technology to advise senior management and suggest appropriate actions.
13. Informs senior leadership and the larger campus community (ex: risk management) on IT related matters


Required Qualifications
 

Educational Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field.
Required Experience
Ten (10) years of progressive experience in information technology leadership managing cross-functional information technology teams, with recent senior leadership experience


Preferred Qualifications
 

Preferred Educational Qualifications
An advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field
Preferred Experience
Prior experience as a CIO or similar managerial role desired
Experience in multiple areas within Information Technology
Higher education experience strongly preferred
