General Responsibilities


To be a key collaborative leader in the office of the  Health System Chief Medical And Quality Officer (HSCMQO) organizing and promoting the clinical quality, patient safety, and quality improvement efforts within the UAB Health System and Affiliate network.  Beyond focusing on the effectiveness of the health system’s quality improvement efforts, this position strategically will focus on developing and enhancing network relationships across the continuum of clinical care. To help develop and strengthen clinical and physician collaboration across the health system in the dynamic and changing health care environment.

 


Key Duties & Responsibilities


 

1.       

Responsible for implementing a second 90-day plan.

 

2.       

Leads enterprise-wide quality and performance management.  In conjunction with the HSCMQO, lead strategic and tactical planning related to enterprise-wide quality and change management.              Manages enterprise-wide quality improvement initiatives.  Tracks quality improvement initiative results.  Provides executive level quality reporting and communication.  Provides quality academy style training to network affiliate sites.  Works with Director of Clinical Quality to establish clinical quality priorities by network sites.  Organizes and leads annual network retreat for quality & performance management.

 

3.       

Develops and leads quality data aggregation and analytics processes.  Leads and manages enterprise-wide quality and performance reporting.  Develops and provides regular quality dashboard reporting.  Recommends annual quality goals and priorities based on data, by network site.  Strengthens network relationships through network advocacy.

 

4.       

Develops and implements network quality strategic and tactical advisory services.  Supports quality-related accreditations and Centers of Excellence certifications.  Supports enterprise-wide patient engagement initiatives related to quality and outcomes.  Supports enterprise-wide employee engagement initiatives related to quality and outcomes.

 

5.       

Serve as Executive Director to the Health System Chief Medical And Quality Officer.  Leads steering committee(s) for enterprise quality.  Initiates and leads opportunities to strengthen network relationships.  Facilitates multi-departmental and multi-institutional collaboration around quality and performance initiatives.  Supports network operations with strategic and tactical advisory services.  Directs and supports Health System Quality Office business functions, including, but not limited to, operations, financial administration, and human resource administration.

 

6.       

Performs other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

 

Masters (MSHA/MBA or equivalent degree) in health care quality management and twelve(12) years of related experience.  Network or rural hospital management experience preferred.  Work experience may NOT substituted for education requirement.
