The Vice Dean for Finance and Administration reports to the Dean of the College of Public Health, the third largest college/school at Temple University, and functions as a senior member of the Dean’s leadership team. The Vice Dean supports the College’s educational, clinical, research programs and day-to-day operations. The Vice Dean is a visible and influential leader within the college and at Temple University, holding senior managerial and fiduciary responsibilities in all financial matters, including a revenue budget of $100.7 million, operating budget of $80 million, and research expenditures of $13 million. The Vice Dean directs school-wide administrative and financial operations with oversight of finances, administration, facilities, operations, computing and information technology, and staff affairs. As such, the Vice Dean needs to have an interest and commitment to the academic, research and clinical mission of the college.

The Vice Dean represents the Dean and serves as a spokesperson for the College of Public Health to the executive and financial levels of the University. The incumbent oversees the College’s budget with operations, budget planning, capital planning, funding priorities, financial analysis and managerial oversight responsibility for maintaining and ensuring the College’s solid financial position. The Vice Dean will ensure business process improvement in all areas, including using data analytics to help guide decisions about operational efficiencies across the College. Areas of oversight include business and finance, facilities, information technology and staff affairs. Partners with other leaders across the college to oversee the operations, budgeting and strategic direction of other administrative functions including the Office of Academic Affairs, the Office of Research, the Office of Institutional Advancement, Office of Academic Affairs, Office for Fieldwork and Placement and the 8 academic departments.

Other responsibilities include the following: advising the Dean and senior staff on all financial matters related to day-to-day operations; developing, implementing, maintaining and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures; establishing budget projections and financial strategic planning documents for the Provost’s Office; working with the Dean and senior staff on resource allocation; and presenting quarterly budget reports; personnel administration, including hiring and compensation related matters. The CPH is currently engaged in a major renovation of Paley Hall and the incumbent will need to help guide this project, consider other future facility needs, and work with the Project Delivery Group. The Vice Dean will also perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Education & Experience:
Master's degree in a related field and at least eight years of directly related experience, including, supervisory and leadership experience; business and financial planning, and business management experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred:
*Experience in an academic institution.
*Experience with grant and contract management.

This position is full-time, 40 hours per week and requires a background check.

Please note this position will temporarily work remotely, the duration of remote work will be at the discretion of Temple University and the department.
