Reporting to the Dean of Graduate Education, the Chief of Staff and CFO will actively participate in the formulation and implementation of policies and procedures governing graduate education at UCLA and all functions that support the programmatic activities of graduate programs and the administrative and regulatory functions of the Graduate Division. This includes consultative, coordinative and liaison activities with the Associate Deans within the Graduate Division; senior leaders in the academic and administrative units throughout the UCLA campus, and executive senior leadership at the 9 UC campuses and Office of the President. The Chief of Staff and CFO supervises the Director, Budget and Personnel and Manager, Operations and External Relations, as well as working closely with the other members of the Graduate Division leadership team on policies, procedures and special initiatives, including but not limited to the: Executive Assistant to the Graduate Dean Assistant Dean, Fellowships and Financial Services Assistant Dean, Academic and Postdoctoral Services Assistant Dean, Diversity, Inclusion and Admissions Director, Information Technology and Institutional Research Manager, Institutional Research and Data Analytics The Chief of Staff and CFO is responsible for ensuring continued evaluation and transformation of Graduate Division processes, services and information to effectively address both ongoing needs and emerging issues in the support of graduate education at UCLA. This involves integrating strategic, operational and budgetary planning, including effective deployment of human, financial and technological resources, both within the Graduate Division and in cooperation with other campus and business units, to advance the interests of graduate education and the welfare of graduate students, postdoctoral scholars, and visiting graduate researchers. In this capacity, the Chief of Staff and CFO represents and advocates on behalf of the Graduate Division in various settings and with diverse constituent groups. This requires proactive interaction with campus administrative offices, faculty and staff in graduate degree programs, and serving as the representative of the Dean of Graduate Education on campus committees, task forces, and work groups and engagement in programmatic activities to help develop and promote academic quality through strategic planning, enhanced institutional research and information services, policy development, and effective resource allocation. An important responsibility of the Chief of Staff and CFO is supporting the Dean of Graduate Education in writing proposals, grants and reports incorporating quantitative analysis and/or analytic reasoning as needed. |
