Description of Work Unit | The Colorado State University, Veterinary Teaching Hospital exists to providing exceptional veterinary care and service to the community while educating the next generation of veterinarians at a tertiary level teaching hospital. Critical Care Services provides medical care for small animals and exotics on an emergency basis and intensive 24 hour care to patients who are admitted for extended treatment. We simultaneously provide clinical instruction to professional veterinary medical students, interns, residents, veterinary technicians, graduate veterinarians, and others, conduct and support clinical research, and provide referral outreach to clients and referring veterinarians. |
Position Summary | This position provides technical and nursing support to CCS patients and VTH clinicians, students and clients. The position triages emergencies, provides nursing care to hospitalized patients, recovers post-operative patients, and communicates with CCU team on patient concerns. This position also instructs vet technician students, junior and senior professional veterinary students. This position will be scheduled to work 2pm – 12am. |
Minimum Qualifications | An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in veterinary/animal health technology AND one year of experience in veterinary emergency medicine. *Please note, a transcript or diploma must be attached with this application |
Substitutions | Two years of experience as defined by the department will substitute for each year of required education. A bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree from an accredited college or university in veterinary/animal health technology will substitute for the associate’s degree and, at the agency’s discretion, the year of experience. |
