The Veterinary Technician III is responsible to provide support to veterinarians in the instruction of clinical skills which includes primary patient care, basic surgery, diagnostic techniques and anesthesia with an emphasis on clinical techniques, specifically anesthesia and surgery related techniques. This position may serve as senior technician or the intermediate supervisor to veterinary technical staff within the clinical skills service group and oversee the maintenance of the physical area within the clinical skills laboratory. Our technicians are trained to be the power behind patient care. Successful candidates will play an absolute vital role in the care of our patients alongside our faculty veterinarians, residents, interns, and 4th year professional veterinary students. This position is crucial in helping guide, teach, and mentor veterinarians of our future. The Blinn Veterinary Technology Program is housed in the same building as the VMTH.  There are flexible work schedules for evening, overnight and weekend shifts in some service areas of the VMTH.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for an entry level include: Associate degree in Veterinary Technology, Biomedical Science, Animal Science or a related area, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Four years of technical experience in a veterinary hospital or referral clinic environment.

Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent. Specialty training in anesthesia, surgery, or related area. Two years relevant experience within the Texas A&M University System. CVT, LVT, or specialty technician license.

Salary Range: $21.33 – $23.46

Work Schedule: Candidates must have the ability to work alternative shifts, holidays, weekends, and on-call duty.

Other Requirements or Factors: Must have the ability to work around animals, hay, or dust. Ability to move heavy loads.

Essential Personnel: This position is considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless or until relieved by their direct supervisor.
