Welcome to the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (CVM). From the over 550 students in our DVM program , to the 2,355 students in our dynamic Biomedical Science Undergraduate Program , to the 150 outstanding graduate students involved in quality research projects throughout the college, we’re engaged in preparing our students to meet the public and animal health needs of the 21st century and beyond. The Veterinary Technician I – will support the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomendical Sciences team at Texas A&M. Our technicians are trained to be the power behind patient care. Successful candidates will play an absolute vital role in the care of our patients alongside our faculty veterinarians, residents, interns, and 4th year professional veterinary students. This position is crucial in helping guide, teach, and mentor veterinarians of our future. We take great pride in developing our team, and we are dedicated to helping them achieve their highest potential.

Shift differential pay is available for eligible shifts. There is opportunity for career ladder advancement as well as opportunity for licensed veterinary technicians to work towards specialty certification. The Blinn Veterinary Technology Program is housed in the same building as the VMTH.  There are flexible work schedules for evening, overnight and weekend shifts in some service areas of the VMTH.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for an entry level include: Associate degree in Veterinary Technology, Biomedical Science, Animal Science or a related area, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Associates or Bachelor’s degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, or a related area. Specialty training in anesthesia, surgery, or related area. Two years of relevant experience within the Texas A&M University System. LVT, RVT, Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Academy of Veterinary Technician Anesthetists (AVTA), or Academy of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Technicians (AVECCT), A.S. or B.S

Salary Range: $19.11 - $21.02

Work Schedule: The position is  Monday - Friday, 8a - 5p and candidates must have the ability to work alternative shifts, holidays, weekends, and on-call duty. Must have the ability to work around animals, hay, or dust. Ability to move heavy loads.

Essential Personnel: This position is considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless or until relieved by their direct supervisor.
