The Veterinary Technician Assistant LA ICU – will support our ICU (intensive care unit) and ER (emergency receiving) teams at Texas A&M Large Animal Hospital. Our technicians in ICU and Emergency Receiving are trained to be the power behind emergency triage and after-hour patient care. Successful candidates will play an absolute vital role in the care of our patients alongside our faculty veterinarians, residents, interns, and 4th year professional veterinary students. This role will have the opportunity to work around a multitude of species including, horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, llamas, alpacas, camels, and the occasional reindeer. This position is crucial in helping guide, teach, and mentor veterinarians of our future. The Blinn Veterinary Technology Program is housed in the same building as the VMTH.  There are flexible work schedules for evening, overnight and weekend shifts in some service areas of the VMTH.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for an entry level include: Associate degree in Veterinary Technology, Biomedical Science, Animal Science or a related area, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Preferred understanding of equipment used in a veterinary teaching hospital.

Salary Range: $16.35 - $17.99

Work Schedule: Candidates must have the ability to work alternative shifts, holidays, weekends, and on-call duty.

Other Requirements and Factors: Must have the ability to work around animals, hay, or dust. Ability to move heavy loads.

Essential Personnel: This position is considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless or until relieved by their direct supervisor.
