The College of Veterinary Medicine is recruiting a Registered Veterinary Technician to work in its Spectrum of Care Clinic. Work involves assisting a veterinarian in technical procedures and activities involving animal care, specifically in the areas of wellness, dentistry, surgery, and anesthesia. Successful candidate assists team clinicians and care-giving colleagues with the reception, treatment, and monitoring of all patients within the Spectrum of Care Clinic. The Registered Veterinary Technician provides high level patient care in a fast-paced, high patient load, veterinary practice facility. Technicians focus on assisting faculty with assessment, treatment, and procedures related to quality patient care. The position requires detailed knowledge of biological parameters and value interpretation, restraint techniques, ability to triage and take action in emergent situations as well as the ability to acquire vitals and monitoring hospitalized patients for changing needs. Must be able to communicate effectively with clients, administration, other technicians, and faculty. Should possess lab skills including working knowledge of lab equipment and protocols. Must be able to accurately track patient progress and keep proper documentation as well as effectively learn and use electronic medical record program. This position requires the use of anesthesia and radiological machines including dental radiology equipment. Position responsible for maintaining clean and efficient work areas and performing "end-of-shift" duties which may include dust mopping, wet mopping, laundry, trash removal, and other duties as assigned. Technicians are expected to mentor and train new employees and participate in regular continuing education to maintain required state licensing. The successful candidates will be expected to work 40 hours a week based on primary work unit, identified shift, and organizational need and are subject to change with advance notice. May require work on holidays, evenings, and weekends. Successful candidate must be a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Ohio and complete a background check.

Physical Requirements
- Standing for long periods of time,
- Pushing/pulling/lifting up to 50 pounds
- Exposure to animal dander and/or zoonotic diseases
- Exposure to needle sticks, hazardous chemicals, and/or bio hazardous waste
- May require weekend, nights, and/or holiday hours
- State of Ohio Registered Veterinary Technician (Required) at the time of hire

Required Education

Per Classified Civil Svc Specs or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Desired Education

High School Diploma or GED, Associates Degree In Veterinary Medicine.

Desired Experience

Previous experience as a licensed, registered veterinary technician and/or veterinary assistant.

Hiring Range: $23.65 - $29.57 per hour
