Job Description
Vet Care Tech - ECC: Work involves assisting a veterinarian in technical procedures and activities involving animal care, specifically in the areas of pain management and critical care. Successful candidate assists team clinicians and care-giving colleagues with the reception, treatment, and monitoring of all patients within the Small Animal Emergency Critical Care unit. Candidate oversees and instructs professional veterinary students in preparation of animals and equipment for medical procedures and delivery of care. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: supervising and performing ordered treatments for ECC and hospitalized patients; assisting with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures; transmitting case updates to oncoming colleagues; assisting in care of emergency cases brought to small animal receiving area; and preparing and submitting charge tickets for all services rendered according to hospital fee schedules. The successful candidates will be expected to work 40 hours a week rotating between weekdays and weekends with required holidays based on a team rotation. This position will be eligible for shift differential for evening hours and weekend hours worked. Successful candidate must be a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Ohio and complete a background check
Minimum Education Required
Per Classified Civil Svc Specs
Desired Qualifications
Previous experience as a licensed, registered veterinary technician and/or Veterinary Assistant

Preference to prior experience especially focusing on anesthesiology and/or critical services

Prefer board certification/recognition from the Academy of Veterinary Technician Anesthetists and the Academy of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Technicians
Physical Job Requirements

Standing for long periods of time

Pushing/pulling/lifting up to 50 pounds

Exposure to animal dander and/or zoonotic diseases

Exposure to needle sticks, hazardous chemicals, and/or bio hazardous waste

Requires weekend, nights, and/or holiday hours

State of Ohio Registered Veterinary Technician (Required) at the time of hire



Additional Information:

The targeted hiring range for this position is $27.55 - $34.47 per hour commensurate with education and experience.
