The College of Veterinary Medicine seeks a Vet Care Tech -Ward: Work involves assisting a veterinarian in technical procedures and activities involving animal health and disease within the specialty area of Small Animal Wards. The successful candidate will assist team clinicians and care-giving colleagues with the reception, treatment, and monitoring of all patients within the Small Animal Wards. The College of Veterinary Medicine is recruiting a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) to work in its Small Animal Ward unit.
This position involves the care of the non-critical patients and includes walking and medicating dogs, especially for evening walks and treatments, helping with client and patient discharges, and helping students with morning walks and treatments. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: organizes, directs, and provides helpful and collegial assistance to professional students, clinicians, residents, and technical students; maintains a sanitary and functionally well-organized Small Animal Wards; assists in administering medications under the supervision of a professional staff member; maintains complete and accurate medical records; collects, prepares, and submits clinical pathology samples; captures fees for materials and services; collects patient medical history and assists in patient medical evaluation, fluid administration and replacement therapy; assists professional staff to perform critical and intensive nursing care or life sustaining emergency care as needed; provides clinical service support by maintaining supply inventory and replenishing stock; performs maintenance service checks and minor repairs on assigned equipment as needed; assists in clinical research trials as needed; and other duties as assigned.

 


The successful candidates will be expected to work 30 hours a week on 2nd shift between the hours of 3:00 pm and 2:00 am and will require working rotating weekends and rotating holidays.

Successful candidate must be a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Ohio and complete a background check.



Additional Information:

The targeted hiring range for this position is $23.65 - $29.57 per hour commensurate with education and experience.

Desired Experience
Previous experience as a licensed, registered veterinary technician and/or Veterinary Assistant.
Physical Requirements
Pushing/pulling/lifting up to 50 pounds

Exposure to animal dander and/or zoonotic diseases

Exposure to needle sticks, hazardous chemicals, and/or bio hazardous waste.
Requires weekend, nights, and/or holiday hours.
