|Summary of Duties||
Vet Care Tech -Tier I-Community Practice – Work involves assisting a veterinarian in technical procedures and activities involving animal health and disease. Successful candidate assists team clinicians and care-giving colleagues with the reception, treatment, and monitoring of all patients within the Small Animal Community Practice unit. Candidate oversees and instructs professional veterinary students in preparation of animals and equipment for medical procedures and delivery of care.
Successful candidate oversees and instructs professional veterinary students in preparation of animals and equipment for medical procedures and delivery of care in Community Practice and Dentistry. The individual will assist team clinicians and care-giving colleagues with reception and treatment of all patients and owners during wellness and sick visits, dentistry appointments, as well as behavior and happy visits. Duties include but may not be limited to the following: performing physical exams and phlebotomy; submitting appropriate lab tests; completing patient SAOP; maintaining appropriate charts for procedures; setting-up and tearing- down of equipment for labs; maintaining equipment and supplies, including inventory; assisting with fractious/fearful patient handling; administering sedation; transporting patients to procedures; and communicating with clients regarding scheduling, follow-up care, etc.
The successful candidates will be expected to work 40 hours a week on first shift with hours to be determined by the unit and may include evenings and weekends. Successful candidate must be a Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of Ohio and complete a background check.

Physical Requirements: Standing for long periods of time, pushing/pulling/lifting up to 50 pounds, exposure to animal dander and/or zoonotic diseases, exposure to needle sticks, hazardous chemicals, and/or bio hazardous waste.
|Pre Employment Screening||Requires the successful completion of a background check.|
Associates degree in Animal Health Technology from an approved AVMA Technician Program; minimum of one year of previous and related work experience; ability to obtain OVMLB License prior to start date.
Previous experience as a licensed, state of Ohio registered veterinary technician and/or Veterinary Assistant.
