A postdoctoral fellowship position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Yogen Kanthi, NIH Lasker Investigator, within the Translational Vascular Medicine Branch at the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, NIH (add lab website link). The laboratory is located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland, and focuses on aspects of innate immunity, vascular biology, and thrombosis in models with high relevance to the investigation and treatment of human thromboinflammatory diseases.
Current projects include neutrophil, platelet, and endothelial phenotypes as interrogated by functional and transcriptomic methods in acquired and inherited monogenic vascular disorders, interrogation of vascular immunobiology in autoimmune disorders such as antiphospholipid syndrome, and COVID-associated thromboinflammation.
Qualifications:
Candidates must have a PhD within the past five years (or be nearing PhD completion) or an MD (with extensive prior laboratory training). Prior experience is required in at least one of the following areas: immunology, vascular biology, blood or cardiovascular diseases, thrombosis, and/or single-cell multi-omics. Applicants must have experience or interest in developing expertise in conducting functional assays and investigating cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the pathogenesis of complex vascular immunobiology. Facility with data analytics and programming in R and Python is preferred. Bioinformatic support and training is available.
Salary is commensurate with research experience and accomplishments, with a competitive starting salary. Appointees may be US citizens, resident aliens, or non-resident aliens with or eligibility to obtain a valid employment authorization visa.
