As a Van Driver, you will:

  • Transport faculty, staff, and students on a regularly scheduled shuttle route in a 12-passenger van.
  • Maintain van cleanliness.
  • Perform safety checks, schedule van maintenance, maintain maintenance logs, and maintain daily passenger logs.
  • Communicate route locations.

Minimum Required Qualifications
  • High school or equivalent experience
  • 6+ months of transportation experience.
  • Ability to operate and navigate a 12-passenger van.
  • Ability to read maps, signs, locate locations, and follow route schedules.
  • Ability to maintain calm under pressure and/or in stressful situations.
  • Familiar with vehicle requirements and preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to demonstrate regular safety checks.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 2+ years experience driving a fixed route.
  • Knowledge of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and departmental rules and regulations, policies, and procedures.

Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required. Subject to DOT approved pre-employment & random testing for alcohol and controlled substances. No
