Position Summary
 Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
Perform standard molecular biology wet lab protocols and techniques, such as:
-Cloning
-PCR
-Western blotting
-qRT-PCR
-next-generation sequencing library preparation
-flow cytometry
Perform sterile cell culture work, such as:
-cell freezing and thawing
-cell passaging 
-transfection and transduction for genetic manipulation 
Animal handling, such as:
-implanting tumors
-administering therapeutics
-maintaining the mouse colony
-mouse breeding
Routine recordkeeping of experiments, data analysis, and figure generation
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
 Bachelor’s of arts or science degree, or working towards completion of a bachelor’s degree. Previous experience in a laboratory is required. Knowledge of basic biological techniques and procedures; demonstrated ability to gather data and document procedures; demonstrated ability to plan work and coordinate multiple projects; demonstrated ability to communicate professionally both verbally and in writing. 
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Knowledge – Technical
Working knowledge of basic molecular and cellular biology techniques. 
Ability to read scientific papers and textbooks to understand biologic principles and learn new techniques. 
Ability to plan out complicated experiments with assistance, including organizing needed tools reagents in advance, arrange timelines, and foresee likely hurdles that may arise and plan for strategies to overcome them.
Operations – Research Support:
Ability to support scientific research by assisting in experiments, procedures, and/or tests.
Ability to perform work that requires mental concentration, visual attention and extensive manipulative skills to comply with research protocol. 
Ability to follow instructions through a standard work process.
Ability to perform routine or repetitious tasks.
Ability to check work for accuracy before completion of tasks.
Data Collection
Ability to observe, monitor, collect, and record data in a lab notebook
Ability to critically evaluate the accuracy and validity of the data collected.
Laboratory/Subject Care
Ability to provide care for mice based on the research protocol, including maintaining optimal conditions to prevent disease and contamination.
Ability to experimentally manipulate mice according to the IACUC-approved research protocol.
Ability to work with animals in an ethical manner.
Communication
Communicates complex scientific concepts and data clearly, both verbally and written
Assists in the preparation of research findings and reports
Gathers necessary information and responds to inquiries as directed
Reports any communication issues/problems to the PI
Instruction
Ability to train others in experimental techniques and data analysis.
Ability to document steps needed to conduct experiments and interpret data.
Ability to review and maintain standard operations, procedures, and protocols.
