Position Summary
JOB DESCRIPTION: This Administrative Support Associate position supports physicians in managing their patient and educational workload as well as supporting clinical operations at the various clinics. This job can be mostly remote provided the applicant has reliable internet. Otherwise, the office building or the clinic will be the duty station.
Duties include the following:
  • Review schedules for faculty and verify:
  • Clinic time is NOT scheduled when PTO (paid time off) is scheduled for the physician (double check behind scheduler)
  • On new (non-unc) patients, please be sure the records are epic 1-2 weeks before the appointment and confirm the same to the physician.
  • Generate any needed follow-up correspondence/referral appointments.
  • Be sure satellite clinics are aware of PTO approvals so their schedule may be updated (VA, Alamance Eye/Chatham/etc.).
  • DMV/FMLA/Workmans Comp and associated forms-work one day in the clinic per week to complete these forms and obtain necessary signatures. Upload into Epic before sending a signed copy to the patient and/or agency.
  • Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
    1 year of office administrative experience plus a high school diploma or completion of the GED program
    Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
    Strong writing skills and keen attention to detail; proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, experience with a basic knowledge of a variety of reporting systems, and basic analytical skills. Individuals must be adept at multi-tasking.
    Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
    An individual who has experience working in a healthcare administration environment and has experience working in the EMR system EPIC
