Position Summary
The primary purpose of the position: This position primarily maintains, oversees, and reports financial accounting data. This position also serves as a specialist in fiscal knowledge, such as payroll, contract/grants, and related accounting services. Technical accounting work includes independent responsibility for maintaining accounting records. This position’s responsibility is to analyze data for accuracy, to problem-solve, and to interpret regulations as well as reverse errors. They are accountable for the accuracy of entries and the reconciliation of data and information. They coordinate and make recommendations for system changes and test new processes.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalency and one year of experience in accounting work; or equivalent combination of training and experience.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Accounting experience
  • Excellent public contact, administrative, and office management skills are required, as is the ability to independently and prioritize work assignments and projects
  • Working knowledge of the department’s function, organization structure, division of responsibility, and staffing. Ability to research, extrapolate, and interpret information from a variety of source

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Ability to adapt effectively to change and manage multiple priorities concurrently.
  • Experience with UNC Systems Infoporte, ConnectCarolina, and Concur is highly preferred
