Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
UNC-Chapel Hill collaborates with nearby NC State University to extend both universities’ temporary staffing power by operating as a shared service for both institutions. Under this partnership, University Temporary Services (UTS) provides exclusive temporary staffing services to UNC-Chapel Hill and NC State, employing candidates to work as temporary employees in a variety of jobs on both campuses.
Position Summary
The Accounts Receivable Manager is responsible for processing and reconciling revenues received by the School for course registrations, membership dues, service agreements, and miscellaneous fees. This position is responsible for managing receipt of approximately $12,000,000 in revenues each fiscal year, including revenue for the School’s associated entities and strategic partners. The Accounts Receivable Manager ensures that all revenue is received and deposited according to University and School policies and procedures, and provides essential reconciliation and reporting. The position also manages the School’s Travel and Expense card program, as well as travel approvals and reimbursements, including travel funded by contracts and grants. This position provides excellent customer services to the School’s faculty and staff and serves as an expert in travel policy and procedures.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or accounting; or Associate’s degree in business administration or accounting and one year of experience preferred.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Ability to process financial transaction with a high degree of accuracy, with strong attention to detail and mathematical skills.
Strong organizational and time management skills are required to manage multiple responsibilities and requests from faculty and staff, clients and outside vendors.
Ability to provide excellent customer services to School faculty and staff, clients and outside vendors. This includes providing clear, consistent, and timely responses and resolution to requests from internal and external customers.
Ability to interpret, apply, and communicate University and State guidelines, regulations, and policies and implement new procedures and systems as policies change.
Exceptional interpersonal skills including advanced written and oral communications skills, diplomacy, discretion, tact, initiative, and motivation. This position will have daily contact with outside clients and vendors, the UNC Office of Finance and Operations, and School of Government faculty and staff.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, is required. QuickBooks experience is desired.
