Utility Plant Maintenance Planner & Supervisor

Job Summary

Supervise Energy & Utilities Storeroom Expediters and skilled trades staff. Set day-to-day operational objectives, assign tasks, review work, and provide feedback. You will provide primary input to hiring, terminating, disciplining, wages, promotion, performance, and rewards decisions for direct reports.

 

  • This position should have the ability to take lead role in overhaul of Major Turbine overalls or in forced outages.  
  • Work within SAP to develop and provide reports to upper management as needed.
  • Develop:
    • written plans and schedules for regular maintenance, outages, overhauls, and projects for all utility plant systems and equipment.
    • materials lists, place orders and coordinate deliveries to ensure materials are on site when needed.
    • resource plans and labor forecasts. Coordinate and provide oversight of contractors working in the plant.
  • Coordinate activities with plant operations and other groups, ensuring operational and production needs are met.
  • Work to minimize unplanned downtime, outages, overtime, on-call, and emergency call-in.
  • Evaluate and improve safety of plant maintenance activities.
  • Assist with the development of the plant maintenance budget and make recommendations for spare parts inventory.
  • Provide written reports for maintenance activities and expenditures.
  • Serve as back up for Plant Maintenance Manager when the manager is out of the office.
  • Actively participate on the plant safety committee and assist with implementation and training of new safety initiatives.
  • Subject to 24-hour call-back for emergencies, overtime, and serving in Operations Supervisor on-call rotation.

 


What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, technology, or related subject
  • One (1) year of experience in industrial maintenance
  • Knowledge of Power plant operations and plant systems  
  • Technical knowledge and problem-solving skills for maintenance of equipment used in power generation
  • Possess in-depth knowledge and expertise in GE, ELLIOT and Dresser turbines as well as water tube boilers fueled by natural gas or coal
  • Equivalent combination of high school diploma/GED and 4-5 years of experience will also be considered

 

Preferred:

  • Prefer a candidate with in-depth knowledge of Trane and York chillers


Skills Needed:

  • Must be able to work in a high-pressure environment and able to adapt and react to emergencies
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills necessary
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with industrial equipment maintenance required
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, ASME Welding Codes, contractor one lines and operational line diagrams
  • Demonstrate ability for shop mathematics, technical manuals and precision measuring equipment required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Word
  • Experience with SAP work order system and developing Gandt charts preferred
  • Work effectively with people from different viewpoints and backgrounds
