ROLE of the POSITION

PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

Follow standardized procedures and guidelines to assist in all phases of Project Management for UNLV Administration business units, as defined by the Project Management Organization (PMO); Work with Senior Project Management staff to manage the PMO, tooling, and small projects within the Administration Portfolio; and Provide assistance with PMO activities at the direction of Project Managers and Administration Executive leadership.

ACCOUNTABILITY: PROJECTS, PROGRAMS & SCOPE

Provide assistance with, or management of, projects for business units within UNLV Administration:

* Delivery Services

* Parking & Transportation

* Risk Management & Safety

* Telecommunications

* Work Order Control Unit (WOCU)

PROJECT MANAGEMENT ORGANIZATION (PMO) ENGAGEMENT ACTIVITIES

Coordinate programs and projects with other business units within UNLV, Business Affairs, and UNLV Administration. This often requires information sharing, training, and non-project related collaboration.

KNOWLEDGE

Required:

  • Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK) standards & guidelines

  • Project Management methodologies

  • Project Management documentation

Preferred:

  • PMBOK Project Stages and how to use them

  • Project methodology selection based on project type

  • Higher Education and/or Public Procurement and Business Practices

SKILLS

Required:

  • Ability to recognize the application of PMBOK in PMO Documentation

  • First-hand experience with project management software

  • Word Processing, Spreadsheets (including formulas), Email, Chat, and Phone Communication Mediums

  • Web Conference Hosting

  • Work under pressure from restrictive budget, timeline, and personnel constraints

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects

Preferred:

  • Ability to apply PMBOK when managing projects

  • SmartSheets, Meister, Tableau, and G-Suite Enterprise Applications

  • WebEx

ABILITIES

Required:

  • Apply business writing techniques to written communication

  • Taylor communications to the target audience

  • Document project stakeholders, milestones, tasks, budget, risks, dependencies, issues and changes

  • Coordinate and host meetings, both acting as the meeting recorder and moderator

  • Manage and meet deadlines

  • Work effectively in a diverse workforce

Preferred:

  • Present on topics

  • Train individuals and groups

  • Develop project scope

  • Develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI)

  • Develop measurable Success Criteria

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

This position requires a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited college or university, and 1 year of Comparable Professional experience. First-hand use of at least one Project Management Tool, and at least 1 year of Higher Education work experience, are preferred.  Additionally, the following certifications are preferred: PMP, PgMP, PfMP, CAMP, or other PMI certification. Credentials must be obtained prior to the start of employment.
