ROLE of the POSITION

Maintenance Repair Workers perform semi-skilled work in the building and mechanical trades to repair, construct, and/or maintain buildings, facilities and equipment. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to: maintenance of campus grounds, with work relating to parking lot and sidewalk maintenance; assist other trades regarding underground installation and general repairs; operate light equipment, to include backhoe, trencher, forklift, dump truck, compactor, core drill power saw, street sweeper and steam pressure washer; repairs to existing or installation of concrete or other cast surfaces, to include grading, compacting, forming, pouring, finishing and setting pavers; installation of both cold and hot asphalt using proper application techniques; maintenance and repair of outdoor fixtures, to include fences (block and chain link), lamps, lights (to include minor electrical wiring of controllers and lamps); installation of various types of signage (concrete, directional, and roadway).

The normal shift will be Monday-Friday from 6:00 am - 2:30 pm but may be required to work extended hours and weekends on occasions and be able to respond to emergencies.

VACCINATION MANDATE POLICY

QUALIFICATIONS

Two years of experience performing semi-skilled work in a relevant building and/or mechanical trade; OR one year of experience as a Maintenance Repair Worker II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

SALARY

Grade 27 Step 1, salary $36,790.56. "Step" means the number assigned by the Division of Human Resource Management to identify a specific rate of pay within a grade. Per Nevada Administrative Code (NAC 284.170), salaries for initial appointments for classified positions typically begin at Step 1.
