Position Summary

The University of New Mexico, Office of the University Controller, also known as Financial Services, located on Main Campus is responsible for all central accounting functions for the University.

It is the responsibility of the Controller to ensure compliance with all financial policies, rules, and regulations adopted by the University or imposed by external agencies, including state and federal audit requirements, following generally accepted accounting practices. Additionally, the Organization oversees the maintenance of the official financial records of the University.

Within Financial Services and the Purchasing Department, the University Services organization is responsible for several important service functions across the University of New Mexico campus and has an exciting opportunity for a Manager, Business Services to oversee three key departments within the organization, Records Management, Print Management and Surplus Property.

University Services is seeking a dedicated individual with exceptional work ethic and strong leadership qualities to join the team in the role of Mgr, Business Services. The successful candidate will lead the daily operations and business activities in all three departments including finance/accounting and billing support. The successful candidate will manage vital records in accordance with the State of New Mexico Retention Schedule, disposition of surplus property and assets and manage the Print Management leasing and customer support process for the University of New Mexico. In addition, the Mgr, Business Services will develop, direct, and coordinate day-to-day human resources support and oversee monitoring and approving of LoboTime entries for employees.

The select candidate would also oversee development and administration of Records Management, Print Management and Surplus Property which includes employee motivation, work allocation, problem resolution, employee relations and performance evaluation for all three departments. Prepare month-end reporting and billing files for both Records Management, Print Management and Surplus Property.

*This position is on-site M-F.

Salary range is estimated, and actual salary will be determined after consideration of the selected candidate's experience and qualifications.

Conditions of Employment
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; at least 7 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with developing and maintaining recordkeeping and following procedures
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills 
  • Experience working effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
  • Efficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe
  • Knowledge of business management principles and procedures
  • Experience making administrative and procedural decisions and judgments on sensitive, confidential issues
  • Experience supervising and training employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments
  • Experience with employee development and performance management skills
  • Experience in examining and re-engineering operations and procedures, formulating policy, and developing and implementing new strategies and procedures
