The salary range for this classification is $3,115 to $5,639 per month. Starting salary may be set as high as $4,334 per month based on education, skills and experience.


Time Base/Hours/Units per Week
Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Position Description
The University Events Commencement Coordinator assists with planning, coordinating and implementing the University Commencement ceremonies which includes, but is not limited to: logistics, coordinating the printing of the Commencement Program and brochure, coordinating website updates and other related duties. The incumbent acts as liaison between the University and the public. Uses independent judgment and discretion to troubleshoot problems and inquiries. Works to maintain relationships with outside agencies while managing sensitive situations and information.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to work with a variety of offices and individuals in planning, coordinating, and implementing complex university events. Ability to work calmly in a fast-paced, hectic, high profile environment. Ability to make decisions and take initiative in solving problems. Ability to handle multiple tasks and to prioritize them. Familiarity with University fiscal procedures. Ability to interact positively with staff and on- and off-campus vendors. Thorough knowledge of various computer programs (i.e. Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Photoshop, ln Design, Contribute, etc.) and other office equipment. Ability to use appreciable judgment and innovation to develop solutions that address complex operational issues.

Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures. Ability to contribute to a positive university experience for each and every student, and assist in achieving the university's commitment to a "vision of excellence."

Education and Experience
Equivalent to five years of administrative support experience required. A bachelor's degree may be substituted for two years of experience.

Licenses / Certificates
CA Driver's License, Class C

Conflict of Interest
The duties of this position will include participation in decisions that may have a material financial benefit to the incumbent. Therefore, the selected candidate will be required to file Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interest on an annual basis, complete ethics training within 6 months of appointment, and attend this training every other year thereafter.
