Essential functions (job duties):

The primary job duty is to provide crisis intervention to WSU Students during overnight shifts on weeknights. Crisis intervention will usually occur remotely via telehealth. Very rarely a response may be needed that requires coming to campus.
Secondary job duties may include providing psychological counseling services to the University Community, including screening and diagnostic assessment, case management, individual, couples, and group therapy for students. Provide ongoing clinical assessment, monitor compliance with recommended treatments, suggest preventative interventions for recurrence, develop aftercare plans for CAPS clients and monitor follow up to ensure successful transfer of care when indicated.
Maintain both a case management tracking procedure and community resource database. Network and develop collaborative relationships with community-based providers and services.
Assist in coordination of services, including crisis intervention and/or on-going care for students with needs best served by other WSU departments or community resources. Facilitate referrals and follow-up to determine success. Provide appropriate documentation to treatment providers when needed.
Educate students and their families to utilize health insurance, by helping to navigate mental health benefits and connect with network providers.
Consult with faculty, staff, or family members concerned about students to facilitate referrals to CAPS or other appropriate resources.
Maintain confidential client files and appropriate record-keeping, according to professional, ethical, legal and IACS standards. Document all contacts with students, utilizing paper and electronic records in Titanium Software.

Attend staff and professional development meetings, contributing ideas for on-going improvements and strategic planning for CAPS.
Provide training to CAPS staff/trainees and campus partners regarding crisis intervention, assessment and referral processes.
Provide supervision to staff/trainees, including monitor electronic record-keeping, clinical notes, and oversee diagnostic formulation, treatment planning, counseling skills and techniques, policies and procedures.
Provide crisis intervention and critical incident de-briefing to campus groups and the University at-large.
Design, implement and present psycho-educational programming on a broad range of psychological issues. Prepare appropriate printed or web-based materials to promote CAPS' services.
Provide liaison and outreach to University programs/schools, Housing, student organizations and other groups. Provide interdepartmental and interdisciplinary collaboration. Serve as a resource/consultant to administration, faculty, and staff, aimed at bringing a psychological perspective to University concerns.
Engage in continuing education to improve clinical skills.
Perform related duties as assigned.  


Unique duties:

Crisis intervention will be the primary responsibility. A secondary role will be to provide case management services, and potentially to see a limited caseload of counseling clients, depending on the needs of the center at a given time. Review, document, and case manage contacts from ProtoCall After-Hours emails/records. Coordinate inpatient hospitalizations and follow up with clients after they've been hospitalized and discharged


Qualifications:

Minimum of Master's Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Clinical/Counseling Psychology. Applicants with doctorate degrees in these disciplines will also be considered.
Must currently possess full licensure or ability to obtain full licensure for independent practice in the State of Michigan.
Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in an outpatient or inpatient setting, preferably in a University Counseling Center.
Experience in case-management at a university counseling setting strongly preferred.
Experience with and commitment to working with diverse individuals, with regard to ethnic/racial/cultural background, sexual orientation and gender identity, disability, and socio-economic status.
Strong analytical and conflict resolution skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to give group presentations.
Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and thorough record keeping ability.
Reliable and innovative with customer service orientation.
Demonstrate time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
Desire to work in a collaborative, interdisciplinary team in an urban counseling center.
Experience in brief clinical intervention, including risk assessment, safety planning, and mobilization of support systems.
Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality and use sound judgment in working with clients.

Ideal candidate will be a self-starter and have the ability to set firm boundaries.
