Job Summary

As the Communication and Marketing Student Intern for University College, you will help us get the word out about all the great things going on at Illinois State University, specifically within University College. You will help with the development and implementation of content that will fulfill our messaging goals. This internship will help hone professional skills such as writing, organization, project management, and teamwork. Additionally, you will get the opportunity to network with professionals throughout campus.


Additional Information

Duties include:
-Schedule and manage content for University College department and it's surrounding units: Academic Advising, Academic Enhancement, TRiO, Orientation and Training Services, Retention and Dismissal Services, and Community Based Organizations
-Assist with writing, monitoring, and scheduling content for University College social media channels. Including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok.
-Work with campus partners to create and share event and news content.
-Track analytics to help drive our content goals.
-Write and edit news stories highlighting events within University College.
-Work with University College staff to deliver relevant messaging and share the department's brand story with the rest of campus.


Pay Rate

$14.00/hour


Preferred Qualifications

-There is NO GPA requirement for this role
-Must be in good standing with both academic and University conduct at the time of application and throughout employment.
-Must be professional, highly motivated, personable, timely, and detail-oriented with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
-Must have foundational knowledge of various social media platforms, preferably with background in creating content for an organization or event.
-Must have strong copywriting, proofreading, and editing skills.
-Must have basic photography skills, with the ability to do slight edits to photos a plus.
-Must have familiarity with shooting and editing video on a smartphone.


Work Hours

Monday through Friday, between 8:00am and 4:30pm
