Job Summary / Basic Function
Then Nurse Practitioner practices nursing under the direct supervision of the Medical Director and provides health care to the student population. Provider guidelines and work assignments are established in collaboration with the Medical Director and the Director of Wellness Center.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Provide urgent and episodic health care in diagnosis and treatment of the student population in an ambulatory and/or observational setting.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic tests in-house or through an approved outside agency or laboratory and interpreting and reporting the results of diagnostic studies to the patient.
  • Prescribe medications and treatment including Plan B and birth control in accordance with Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner standards of practice.
  • Refer patients when appropriate to hospital emergency rooms, urgent care, physician consultants, or to community agencies for further evaluation and/or treatment.
  • Participate in periodic review and revision of Health Center protocols and qualitative review including peer review and collaborative chart review in conjunction with the Director of Health Services and Nurse Supervisor.
  • Manages medical records, test results, and other patient data in a manner to ensure confidentiality and ensure timely documentation.
  • Perform other health-related duties and assignments made by the Director of Health Services and Nurse Supervisor.

OTHER DUTIES:
  • Participate in continuing education to maintain CRNP licensure, prescriptive authority, and applicable certification(s) in the appropriate area of nursing expertise.
  • Participate in the majority of staff meetings, staff in-service and review notes from the meetings.
Required Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
  • Ability to work with a variety of medical, nursing and laboratory equipment.
  • Ability to record accurate and detailed histories and records of patients.
  • Ability to develop and implement a plan of care to meet the needs of individual patients.
  • Ability to communicate oral and written ideas clearly and precisely.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and health team members.
  • Ability to recognize changes in patient’s overall condition and signs and symptoms that warrant immediate physician and/or outside referral.
Minimum of Education / TrainingRequired Education Summary
  • Possession of a current license to practice as a CRNP issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current certification as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner by the State Board of Nursing in any Adult Care specialty area, or Emergency Care, Family Care, or Primary Care in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
  • MSN or higher.

  • Occasional lifting of objects weighing 25 pounds.
