Description

 

The Office of Information Technology operates in a support role for every department and school on the University of Colorado Colorado Springs Campus. Offering services from Help Desk to classroom AV support, web development to IT security and compliance.

This position covers broad areas primarily under the operations group for Information Technology.  Manages unified communications technology for the Office of Information Technology (OIT).  Manages business operations for digital communications including unified communications.  Assists with unified communication technology issues submitted through the ticket management system. Serve as a knowledge resource for digital communications technology including unified communications.  Serves as a program manager for operations and unified communication projects within the Office of Information Technology.

Job Duties:
 

  • Configures and troubleshoots unified communication technology for use by campus community.

  • Provision new telephony and unified communications services for new employees.

  • Assist with monthly billing reports and journal entries. 

  • Assists with processing work orders generated by requests from campus community individuals who are experiencing communications related difficulty with any of the following: malfunctioning equipment, telephone line moves, adds, and changes, programming changes to VoIP phones, and a variety of other telecom related requests.

  • Work with end users on advanced communications technology including phone equipment, voicemail, soft phones, virtual meeting, and chat clients that are supported through the unified communications department.

  • Establish and maintain Office of Information Technology – Unified Communications website

  • Assist with the procurement of communications technology hardware and software.  Maintain inventory of all communication equipment.

  • Assist with the monitoring of communications systems to ensure optimal performance.

  • Maintains accurate and updated documentation and service catalog information for communications services for the Office of Information Technology

  • Work closely with OIT Leadership to ensure network and communication needs are addressed and goals are met in a timely manner.

  • Manages external communication accounts, including EBS and university wide cellular accounts.

  • Configures Unified Communication tools

  • Deploys related UC technologies and services such as SIP trunks, IP routing, switching, DHCP, etc.

  • Evaluates potential new services and equipment upgrades to meet user needs and requirements

  • Assist with call center and hunt pilot incidents.

  • Timely removal of access to systems based on ticket information or immediate terminations.

  • Timely closure of service tickets and provide information to the Service Desk when requested.

  • Publish and analyze metrics each month of services and provide Leadership direction based on statistics.

  • Process monthly billing reports and journal entries.

 

Job Competencies:

 

  • Understand and configure a wide range of Unified Communications platforms including, but not limited to: Microsoft/Cisco Unified Communications technologies including Microsoft Teams, WebEx, CUCM, Zoom, AudioCodes
  • Ability to communicate effectively in all types of communications mediums
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, work under deadlines.
  • Ability to collaborate with staff, faculty and leadership.
  • Understanding of networking and cloud technologies
  • Excellent time management and organization skills.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $53,893-$69,539

Qualifications

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or year for year equivalent experience
  • Minimum of three years experience in an information technology department setting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Cisco systems including UCCX, Call Manager, Unity
  • Experience in establishing and creating a successful adoption of Microsoft Teams softphone technology

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit.  Employee is occasionally required to move.  Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
