Job Summary
Responsibilities
- Cleans and stocks instructional laboratories.
- Orders and stocks glassware inventory.
- Maintains student key inventory.
- Maintains records of student glassware breakage.
- Return empty reagent/chemical bottles to lab manager. Stock laboratories with needed chemicals (provided by lab manager).
- Carries out daily spot checks on common equipment in the labs: i.e. make sure common equipment such as hotplates and clamps are put away; and make sure all hoods and parts therein are functioning properly.
- Removes chemical waste from labs every morning.
- Supplies laboratories with extra chemicals/solvents/glassware/equipment during laboratory hours on an on-need basis. This includes being available in the stockroom during scheduled hours to replace any glassware or equipment.
- Prepares and tests lecture demonstrations to ensure consistency with course content. Works with faculty or staff to determine the suitability of demonstrations for specific lectures.
- Recommends improvements on existing demonstrations. Assists with creating manuals, syllabi, and other instructional materials. Maintains and documents the use of demonstration equipment or materials.
- Performs other related work as needed.
