Description of Work Unit
The College of Business at Colorado State University is an AACSB accredited business school which enrolls more than 4,400 undergraduate students in ten business concentrations and approximately 1,500 graduate students across eight graduate programs. While we are the largest undergraduate and graduate major on campus, we strive to create a small college environment. Colorado State University invites nominations and applications for an Undergraduate Recruitment Coordinator. This is a 12-month administrative professional position eligible for University benefits. The position will work within the College of Business within the Undergraduate Programs Office and will report to the Director of Undergraduate Programs.

Mission of the Unit:
The Unit is responsible for all undergraduate recruiting efforts, retention initiatives, academic advising, diversity/inclusivity initiatives, and GO Abroad initiatives.
Position Summary
The Undergraduate Recruitment Coordinator position in the College of Business Undergraduate Programs Department is responsible for recruiting first year and transfer undergraduate students with an emphasis on students of color, female identified , first generation, LGBTQ, and other underrepresented groups specifically for the Business Administration major. Supervises the College of Business Ambassador Program. Responsible for developing and facilitating COB recruiting programming on campus and in the greater community. Teaches an exploration of business course.
This position is a full-time 12-month position with a 3 year term, renewable contingent upon available funding, continued business needs, and satisfactory performance in the role.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree;
  • At least two years of experience coordinating recruitment or recruitment related activities in an educational environment..
  • Experience working with or supporting students of color, first generation students and other underrepresented populations.
  • Ability to work with people in both a face-to-face and remote format.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills demonstrated by cover letter and experience in public speaking.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license or obtain a valid driver’s license by appointment start date.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work non-standard hours.
  • Experience with program and event planning, organizing, and implementation.
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Bilingual – Spanish.
  • Master’s degree.
  • Experience working with admissions offices at a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
  • Proficiency using technology, such as MS Office Suite, Excel and Access, and student information systems, such as Banner and Slate, that contributes to a data-driven recruiting environment.
  • Experience leading a team, including training, professional development, and mentorship.
  • Experience working directly with undergraduate students.
  • Experience with content creation for social and print media marketing materials.

Essential Duties


Job Duty Category Strategic Recruitment Planning and Implementation
Duty/Responsibility
  • Working with the Director of Undergraduate Programs (UPO), create and annually revise college strategic recruitment goals in alignment with central CSU recruitment metrics.
  • Provide guidance to COB departments on best recruitment practices.
  • Work with Director of UPO, Director of Marketing Communications in COB and the Director of Marketing Communications in the Office of Admissions to create, implement, and maintain college and department-specific messaging to all prospective students and families.
  • Assist in creating and designing content for social media, email, web, PowerPoint presentations, brochures, flyers, and other print marketing materials for prospective students in Collaboration with Marketing Communications unit to ensure all digital and print materials meet University standards and effectiveness.
  • Engage with schools and districts, community-based organizations, and professional organizations as well as college and high school fairs. This requires regular recruitment travel (in-state and out-of-state), which may mean occasional irregular work hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Collaborate with Office of Admissions on programs, events, high school visits, college fairs, communications, and collection and analysis of student data within the Slate system.
  • Participate in Admissions and College Recruiter meetings, keeping informed and informing others of current strategies, practices and trends.
  • Work closely with the CSU Office of Admissions leadership, align the college’s recruitment goals with that of the university and create a deeper understanding of COB’s programs across the university.
  • Plan, produce, and deliver presentations to prospective students and their families at CSU and regionally.
  • Develop and manage information systems to track and report recruitment efforts and applications, admits, and confirmations.
  • Serve as the college representative on the University Admissions Advisory Council, a monthly meeting of college leaders.
  • Make decisions on admission to the College of Business by way of an appeal process.
  • Manage college student recruitment budget.
  • Collaborate with the COB Career Management Center and other CSU organizations on recruiting related events and to develop relationships with corporate supporters.
  • Coordinate the annual 1st Generation Business Summit for high school students.

  • Serve as the college’s first point of contact for all prospective undergraduate students and families and make decisions about how to best promote the college to students.
  • Extend invitations and schedule campus visits for students and families.
  • Provide excellent and timely customer service to prospective students and their families including coordination of individualized prospective visits.
  • Be available to students and families via phone, email, and text.
  • Communicate the value of a business education to a variety of constituents (e.g. students and their families, faculty, professional staff, and other stakeholders).
  • Assist with student-oriented events including Orientation, Ram Welcome, Homecoming, and Commencement.

  • Select, supervise and provide leadership development for an Ambassador Coordinator
  • Lead a team of 10-12 paid Ambassadors.
  • Work with Ambassador Coordinator, set academic year goals and supervise the implementation of plans for the Ambassador team.
  • Lead annual recruitment and selection process for the Ambassador program.
  • Organize and run team-building activities, service-learning projects, and leadership opportunities prior to the beginning of the fall semester and throughout the academic year.
  • Plan and run bi-weekly meetings.
  • Organize Ambassador participation in CSU recruitment events.
  • Manage the Ambassador budget.

Duty/Responsibility
  • BUS105 is a course designed to connect the College of Business with Exploratory Studies: Business Interest (ESBI) students (non-admitted students who are working toward admission to the College of Business). 
  • Help ESBI students decide if Business is what they really want for a major, as well as help ESBI students stay engaged in the process of meeting admission requirements. The course explores academic options (business concentrations, certificates, and/or minors) and how they complement business industry interests, introduce community resources, and how to engage in business for a better world. 
  • The Recruitment Coordinator, will have a joint appointment as a temporary faculty; will maintain course objectives, syllabi, multi-media techniques, guest speakers, grading metrics, and evaluation techniques used in delivering BUS105.
