Description of Work Unit
The Academic and Student Affairs (ASA) Office, housed in the Engineering Success Center at Colorado State University, provides support and resources to current and prospective engineering undergraduate students. This unit is responsible for undergraduate recruiting efforts, retention initiatives, academic advising, diversity and access initiatives, career support services, administering scholarships, and coordinating Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering events. We are the first point of contact for many of our incoming students and their families. The ASA Office is led by the Associate Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and is comprised of three teams that work collaboratively to support student success: Recruitment, Advising, and Career Services.

Position Summary
Colorado State University and the Walter Scott, Jr. College of Engineering (WSCOE) invite nominations and applications for an Undergraduate Recruitment Coordinator. This is a full-time 12-month Administrative Professional position eligible for University benefits.
This individual will work within the Academic and Student Affairs Office in WSCOE and will report to the Director of Enrollment, Access, and Equity.
The Undergraduate Recruitment Coordinator is responsible for recruiting first year and transfer undergraduate students with an emphasis on students of color, women, first generation, LGBTQIA, and other underrepresented groups into all majors within the College of Engineering. This role is responsible for coordinating and facilitating prospective student visit days, as well as representing the WSCOE at recruiting events, college fairs, CSU visit days, and all other recruiting related programming. This individual will also take an active leadership role with the student ambassador team.
The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date of January 3, 2023. The Department will not sponsor a visa for this position.
Required Job Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • One plus (1+) years of experience working in college admissions or coordinating recruitment activities for undergraduate students.
  • Ability to work with people in both a face-to-face and remote format.
  • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills as demonstrated by cover letter and experience in public speaking.
  • Ability to show initiative and independence as well as ability to function well in an atmosphere that promotes teamwork, demonstrated by past work experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, or the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license, or access to a licensed driver by appointment start date for occasional local travel.
  • Must be willing and able to travel and work non-standard hours, including nights and weekends, for seasonal admissions recruiting events. Approximately 10% of the time.
  • Experience with program and event planning, organizing, and implementation
Preferred Job Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in student affairs or similar area of study.
  • Experience working with and recruiting first generation students and other underrepresented populations.
  • Proficiency using student information systems, such as Banner and Slate, that contribute to a data-driven recruiting environment.
  • Experience leading a team, including training, professional development, and mentorship.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluently in Spanish

  • Coordinate outreach, recruitment, and enrollment activities of prospective first year and transfer students with special emphasis devoted to first-generation students and students from historically underrepresented populations.
  • Schedule and conduct information sessions and campus visits in cooperation with admissions to meet with local school groups, perspective students and their support systems
  • Coordinate outreach efforts such as telethons, text and mailing campaigns
  • Help coordinate Student Ambassador team and their responsibilities as it relates to recruitment and outreach within the college and university
  • Work with other college undergraduate recruitment coordinator(s) to collaborate on outreach opportunities with local and regional high schools
  • Participate in Admissions events on campus
  • Execute recruitment plan in collaboration with college leadership to incorporate goals for increasing opportunities for marginalized populations
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners both on and off campus
  • Conduct presentations and interactive workshops and activities to various audiences

Duty/Responsibility
  • Serve as the college’s first point of contact for all prospective undergraduate students and families and make decisions about how to best promote the college to students
  • Communicate with students throughout their journey through the admissions process and tailor messages to reflect a student’s status in the application process (applicant, admit, deposited)
  • Identify students that would be eligible and could benefit from the WSCOE learning community and scholarship opportunities
  • Extend invitations and schedule campus visits for students and families.
  • Advocate for prospective students from underrepresented, diverse populations and first generation students. This includes collaborating with the college’ Assistant Dean for Diversity and Inclusion as well as connecting students with campus partners and the student success team.
  • Assist in educating prospective students and their families about the admissions process and the different majors WSCOE offers
  • Provide excellent and timely customer service to prospective students and their families including coordination of individualized prospective visits that may include college and department tours, one-on-one meetings with faculty and students, and scheduling classroom visits.
  • Be available to answer queries from students and families via phone, email, and text during the workday and often during evenings and weekends.
  • Communicate the value of an Engineering education to a variety of constituents (e.g. students and their families, faculty, professional staff, and other stakeholders).
  • Respond to phone, email, and social media inquiries
