Position Summary/Purpose of Position: | This is a full-time, professional academic advising and program coordinator position in the Department of Government and Politics. The Government and Politics major is one of the largest on campus, serving over 1,000 students. The person in this position:
MIDCM and ENSP programs: The Advisor in this position is also the primary point of contact for Environmental Politics and Policy (ENSP) and manages the Minor in International Development Conflict Management (MIDCM) programs, carrying out complex analysis to support optimal course offerings for undergraduate degree seekers in all terms. The advisor in this position serves as the primary academic advisor for both programs and performs duties including completing academic audits, graduation clearance, curricular and co-curricular advising, post-graduation planning, and maintaining student records. Additional responsibilities for MIDCM programs include teaching a practicum course, managing the application and admissions cycles, and coordinating with program faculty to ensure smooth functioning of the program. The person in this position must be able to exercise independent decision-making and reporting to multiple constituents. Occasional travel, evening and weekend hours may be required. |

Physical Demands | Work is performed in an office environment and requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards. Repetitive motion. Substantial movement of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading. Must have the ability to lift and small carry parcels, packages and other items, and to walk short distances to deliver and pick up materials. |
