The Department of Physics & Astronomy is seeking candidates for a full-time, Undergraduate Services Associate II position.  This position is located on The Hill in the Nielsen Physics Building.

 



Qualifications

 

The position’s primary responsibility is to provide administrative support to the Department’s undergraduate program which includes coordinating undergrad recruitment and outreach.  Additional responsibilities include: managing undergraduate WorkStudy opportunities, on-boarding of undergraduate student assistants, organization of Department events and conferences, management of Banner permission overrides for service classes, organization of department classroom supplies and making room reservations for departmental meetings.

The successful candidate will have prior experience writing formal letters, strong professional communication skills, event management, the ability to multi-task & cope with interruptions, be highly organized, and be a team player.  

Educational & Experience Requirements: 
High school diploma and at least 2 years in an administrative position with event planning experience.

OR 

An associate's degree with one year administrative experience and event planning. 

Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel is required.  Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in an educational environment, the Banner program, and knowledge of the Federal Work Study process.

The Department of Physics & Astronomy has a strong presence on UT’s campus and in the research community.  The department was recently awarded a National Science Foundation Science Center for Quantum Materials which provides an 18M research grant.  We are a growing department with over 160 undergraduate physic majors; 140 graduate students; 30 post-doctoral researchers; and 47 faculty.
