Imaging Equipment Manager

Duties and Responsibilities 

40%

  • Ensures proper Imaging engineering staffing levels to provide equipment support services. Functions as primary administrative contact between the Imaging departments and Clinical Engineering and serves as a technical resource to CE staff for repair and maintenance activities on selected and related systems.
  • Manages departmental activities to ensure compliance with policies and procedures, goals, and objectives, including, but not limited to, EOC, imaging device security, and Medical Equipment Management plans. Reviews, audits, and participates in decision support activities related to problem diagnosis, repair, preventive maintenance, and quality assurance of medical imaging equipment.
  • Works with department site supervisors/team leaders and clinical engineers on projects related to new equipment acquisition, installation, renovation, modification, or removal. May directly oversee the progress and status of such projects. Actively participates in organizational procurement decisions and contracting for imaging equipment and related service contracts.

  • Maintains complete and accurate inventories of imaging devices and equipment. Ensures accurate compliance with recall, advisory, and other updates on inventory based on vendor or government notifications.
  • Ensures that work requests from equipment users are responded to within established timeframes. Responsible for imaging engineers staff development and performance management, as well as managing imaging staff on-call schedule and timekeeping.

Establishes innovative strategies for identifying cost savings opportunities, including driving imaging equipment standardization and vendor consolidation, evaluating opportunities to service equipment in-house, and managing all imaging equipment service contracts and time­ and-materials contracts.

10%

  • Performs preventive maintenance on imaging equipment (cardiac catheterization labs, CT, MR etc.) according to manufacturer's specifications and Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Troubleshoots failed imaging equipment, orders required parts, and implements corrective repairs.
  • Validates system safety and performance and specifically image quality on a variety of imaging equipment.
  • Assists technician staff with difficult or complex troubleshooting problems.
  • Performs maintenance and repairs on other types of medical instrumentation as needed.
  • Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures, as well as the departmental budget.

Minimum Qualifications 

For Hire: Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering required, emphasis on Biomedical Engineering desirable. Master of Science degree is desirable. At least 5 years' experience in a hospital based Clinical Engineering Department required, with at least two of those years in a supervisory or managerial role is desired. Certification by the International Certification Commission (ICC) is desirable.
