UCLA-Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Student Exchange Program

Updated: 8 months ago
Deadline: The position may have been removed or expired!

UCLA Asia Institute is offering a one-year student exchange program with Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). Supplemental funding is available for select candidates through the HKUST International Doctoral Student Visitor Supplement (IDSVS). The aim is to encourage doctoral students who are working on their dissertations to spend time as visitors at HKUST to conduct their research. They may take advantage of faculty expertise at HKUST, resources available at HKUST and other Hong Kong institutions, and Hong Kong’s proximity to China, East Asia and Southeast Asia. The IDSVS is intended to complement the student’s own funding to help cover the additional expenses associated with spending time away from their home institution. Applicants are expected also to have funding from their own institution during their time at HKUST. Before submitting the application, students must identify and contact a faculty sponsor at HKUST who is willing to work with them during their time at HKUST. Final acceptance into the exchange program is contingent upon confirmation by the HKUST School of Humanities and Social Science exchange advisory committee.

Stipend includes cost of round-trip economy airfare to Hong Kong, a housing and living subsidy of about $645/mo and up to $645 of research expenses.
