Posting Summary
Rutgers University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) is seeking a Full Time Physician Specialist I to work in our Justice Juvenile Commission (JJC) Facility located in Bordentown, New Jersey. The Physician Specialist is responsible for providing medical services to inmates of the Juvenile Justice Commission, that is consistent with the community standards of care.
Among the key duties for this position are the following:
* Reports to the assigned Secure Care Program and community Residential Home at designated hours to examine referred patients.
* Refers patients to appropriate Physician Consults.
* Makes rounds daily in the infirmary as assigned and documents resident’s status in the progress notes of the infirmary medical records.
* Prescribes medications from the formulary for resident’s healthcare needs.
* Provides services in accordance with the Centers for Disease Control infection guidelines, Federal, State and local laws and the Quality Improvement Program standards.
* Serves as Site Medical Director and supervises physicians and other healthcare professionals.

COVID-19 Immunization Requirement

Rutgers University requires all new employees to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated and have received a booster (where eligible) against COVID-19 prior to commencement of employment, unless the University has granted the employee a medical or religious exemption. Employees who are not eligible for a booster at the time of an offer of employment provide proof they have received a booster upon eligibility and upload proof of same. Based on current guidance, individuals are considered fully vaccinated against COVID-19 two weeks after receiving the final dose of a vaccine approved or authorized for emergency use in the United States or a vaccine that has been listed for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
* Must be Board Certified and qualified by the state laws/ regulations to practice medicine.
* Experienced in a primary care specialty.
Certifications/Licenses
* Licensed by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners.
* Current DEA registration, CDS and CPR certifications.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to work at varying computer workstations provided by the Juvenile Justice Commission in shared office environments. Ability to type and use a computer to enter in the Electronic Medical Records. The ability to keep your hand and arm steady while moving your armor while holding your arm and hand in one position. The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, and your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. The ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands. Can quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine to exact positions. Frequently walks, bends, stretches, pushes and pulls. Intermittent physical exertion when performing job activities. Manual dexterity and mobility for charting (typing). Ability to implement Universal Precautions and Safety Precautions.

* Must possess own vehicle or have alternative means of transportation from one site to another.
* Must be approved by the Juvenile Justice Commission (JJC) and adhere to all JJC requirements.
