As a UAS Professor:
As an Assistant Professor of Communication at UAS, you will be responsible for delivering in-person and/or synchronous online instruction in Communication. You will develop new courses, including those in digital media, to support UAS interdisciplinary programs and participate in research and/or creative activities. Every day you will work with a diverse student population, delivering general education requirement (GER) and elective courses, and collaborating with colleagues and other professionals through service activities. Communication GERs include Fundamentals of Oral Communication, Interpersonal, Small Group Communication and Team Building, Public Speaking, and Introduction to Mass Communication. To thrive in this role, you must have a commitment to student success in an open enrollment university setting, and college-level experience teaching in Communication or a related field.  Successful applicants will demonstrate experience working with diverse students in an open enrollment institution and have specializations or interest in media literacy, print or broadcast journalism, student newspapers, podcasting, advertising and business communications, indigenous studies, science and environmental communication, social media, AI.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Minimum: Master's degree or higher in Communication or related field
• Preferred: PhD in Communication or closely related field
• Preferred: Media work experience, such as journalism, broadcast, PR, advertising

Position Details:
This position is located on the Juneau campus in Southeast Alaska. This is a 9-month, tenure track faculty appointment with a competitive salary and full employee benefits package.
