This position is eligible for a hybrid Flexible Work Arrangement (FWA) (on-campus and remote work). FWA arrangements are subject to manager approval and may shift due to changes in business needs. 



Purpose

Reporting directly to the Associate Dean of UTeach Fine Arts, this full-time Austin-based role will support activities in the UTeach Fine Arts Office.



Responsibilities

  • Student Teaching Placement Finalization and Coordination: Correspond with faculty and Faculty Coordinators of the certification programs, school districts, and College of Education to confirm placements. Ensure appropriate school district contact and policy adherence through facilitating and documenting Student Teacher and Cooperating Teacher applications and orientation information. Confirm student teaching placements by communicating with College of Education and district personnel on behalf of Faculty Coordinators in art, music, dance, and theatre. Ensure that all UTeach Fine Arts field paperwork is completed and stored in BOX and/or sent to the College of Education. Process student grant applications and work with Associate Dean to support placement of Student Teachers in Title 1 districts outside of Austin. Prepare invoices for Field Supervisors and Cooperating Teachers.

  • Administrative Coordination: Organize all necessary documents for the UTeach Fine Arts program in preparation of Texas state program and certification review. Correspond with the College of Education Certification Officer to provide necessary info and documents in line with Texas Education Agency and the Professional Development Sequence for students seeking certification. Processes and tracks Student Teaching fees as required by Texas Education Agency. Manage Student Teacher Documentation. Facilitate payments for Cooperating Teachers and Field Supervisors. Facilitate Program Evaluations.

  • Staff Management: Oversee the work of the hourly part-time UTeach Fine Arts Administrative Assistant. Complete assessments and appraisals for UTeach Fine Arts Administrative Assistant.

  • Event Coordination: Coordinate student and faculty events, training sessions and meetings, including Student Advisory Council Events (2-4 per semester) and meetings, UTeach Fine Arts Order and/or purchase necessary food and goods and process reimbursements/invoices for all events.

  • Content Management: Update the UTeach Fine Arts website with pertinent information about certification and student and faculty events and accolades. With Associate Dean, continue improvement of UTeach Fine Arts policies and procedures including the development and updating of a Manual/Handbook for the program.

  • Additional duties as assigned.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts, communications, education, or related fields.

  • At least 3 years’ experience coordinating or administrating a program.

  • Experience managing administrative staff.

  • Required Competencies: Initiative, Accuracy and Attention to Detail, Managing Multiple Priorities, Effective Communications, Teamwork, Problem Solving, Interpersonal Relationships.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience as a K-12 arts teacher.

  • Experience working with university faculty, staff, and students.

  • Experience and familiarity with UT Austin structure, policies, procedures, and

    administrative functions.

  • Experience with meeting coordination and scheduling.


Salary

$47,000+, Depending on qualifications


Working Conditions

This is a three full days per week in person position with additional on campus meetings and events as required.

  • Standard office environment with repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Occasional weekday meetings and evening events.

  • Business casual attire
