Part-time One Employer Policy 

Any part-time employee of the university shall not have concurrent employment for any other Church- affiliated employer unless specifically excepted. No part-time employee of any other Church-affiliated employer shall be offered concurrent employment for the university unless specifically excepted. 

Job Summary

Provide real-time captioning and vicarious speech for students, faculty, staff, and guests of the university.

 Essential Functions

• Attend classes, meetings, and other events as assigned.
• Transcribe communication in real time for the aforementioned assignments.
• Transcribe prerecorded materials (e.g., instructor videos for classes).
• Provide speech-to-text and text-to-speech communication for mutual understanding and full access.

 Education and Experience

Minimum required:  Graduation from high school or equivalent

Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited institution in any field of study

 Skills, Abilities, Knowledge, Licenses

Minimum required:  

Transcriber I:

•  
  • Graduation from high school or equivalent
  • If hired, a 90-day TypeWell certification course is provided. Progression to Transcriber II is based on passing the certification exam at the end

Transcriber II:

•  
  • Successful completion of TypeWell Basic Skills training, and
  • Passing score for the TypeWell Comprehensive Skill test 

Transcriber III:

•  
  • Passing score on an in-house Advanced Level Transcriber test
