Position Summary
As part of an anticipated multiyear expansion, the Department of Statistics in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University invites applications for two non-tenure-track lecturer positions with an August 1, 2024 start date.
Created in 2006, IU’s Department of Statistics currently offers both graduate and undergraduate degree programs and maintains the Indiana Statistical Consulting Center. Current large service courses include Stat-S 301, Business Statistics, which serves the Kelley School of Business, and Stat-S 520, Introduction to Statistics, which serves Data Science Masters Students. We are co-located with the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering which is rapidly expanding its initiatives in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. The usual teaching load for non-tenure-track faculty is 5 courses per year, with a half-course reduction per semester for directing Business Statistics.

Basic Qualifications
Applicants should have a strong record of teaching excellence at the undergraduate service-course level. A commitment to cooperation in teaching and/or managing our large service courses, S301: Applied Statistical Methods for Business and/or S303: Statistics for the Life Sciences, as well as to implementing proven effective pedagogical strategies in those courses is essential. A Ph.D is required. A Ph.D. in statistics, biostatistics, computer science, or a closely related field is preferred. Candidates with a Ph.D. in a field that uses statistics with a M.S. in statistics will also be considered.
