Description
We seek two motivated individuals to assist with ecology and conservation biology research projects in Arkansas and Missouri. The projects aim to determine occurrence estimates for native crayfish species using kick seine surveys in the Eleven Point, Spring River, and Strawberry River Drainages of AR/MO. The selected individuals will gain field experience with freshwater crayfish identification, kick seine technique, and abiotic stream monitoring. The individuals will also be involved in data organization and analysis. Two full time technician positions are available. Start date is May 1, 2023 (flexible) and end date is July 31, 2023 (flexible) with the possibility to extend into October. The technician will be paid an hourly rate of $11.00 for up to 40 hours per week. Qualifications
Candidates must be 18 years of age or older with a valid driver’s license. The technician will perform duties including field sampling, maintenance and operation of field equipment, data collection, computer input, and analysis and writing (dependent on ability). Preference will be given to candidates with a BS in ecology, conservation biology, fisheries or a related field. Applicants should have a willingness and ability to perform field work, good note taking skills, and a positive attitude. This position will require individuals to work outside for long hours in a group environment. Candidates must work well in a team setting and be okay with getting dirty/wet and actively being in river environments (i.e., swimming/wading).
