Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist students in the review of course material and problem solving.
Coordinate and/or conduct workshops and study groups for students to include marketing activities such as class visits and new student orientations.
Serve as communication link and faculty liaison. Guide students in selecting and using material. Maintain a weekly calendar of available hours for student appointments. Maintain instructional materials (e.g. textbooks, calculators, software, etc.). Collect and analyze data. Coordinate and conduct staff training. Participate in required tutor training.
Provide supervision in the absence of a Learning Center Supervisor as delegated and assist ACE Management with recruiting, screening, hiring, orienting, mentoring and retaining new, peer (student), and/or volunteer tutors. Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
 
Minimum Requirements:
  • Successful completion of 30-hours of post secondary course work to include nine (9) hours in General Chemistry I and II, Organic Chemistry, and Biochemistry or equivalent.  

  • Preferences:
  • Previous experience working in small groups utilizing a variety of tutoring methods with a non-traditional, diverse student population
  • Working knowledge of instructional equipment and resources
  • Experience working with special population and/or as a tutor or teacher of adult learners
  • College Reading and Learning (CRLA) or equivalent certification or tutor training.  

  • Work Schedule:
    Up to 936 hours of work per academic year during the instructional hours of 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Monday through Thursday; 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Friday; and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, Saturday and 8:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday during intersessions.
    May be required to work multiple campuses.

    Conditions of Employment: This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of a collective bargaining agreement.
    Participation in the New Mexico Education Retirement Act (NMERA) is required.
    Regular part-time instructional support personnel have assigned duties up to 936 hours per academic year (September 1 through August 31).
