Job Summary
We are seeking self-motivated, independent employees for a full time Truck Driver 1 – Float position. Positions in this level perform various duties including:
  • Interdepartmental moves, recycle collection and processing
  • Refuse collection and support of Event Planning functions and set ups as well as other functions associated within these areas
    • Due to the main focus of this department this is a floating schedule position and to qualify candidates must be available to work a wide range of days and hours

Conditions of Employment
  • Successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-placement physical.

Physical Demands
Successful candidate must be able to lift up to 50 pounds on frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Successful candidate must be able to work outdoors during inclement weather conditions. Successful candidate must be able to pass a pre-placement physical.

Required Qualifications
  • Possession of a valid motor vehicle driver’s license.
  • Minimum age of 18
  • Must have at least two years of driving experience whether commercial or personal
  • Physical ability to do the job
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to work any shifts and any days
  • Must be able to read, write and understand written documents
  • Must be able to work overtime/extended hours on occasion
  • Candidate must demonstrate interest, ability and/or experience promoting cultural competency and/or diversity
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification and experience driving forklifts
  • Previous moving experience e.g. (Furniture, Boxes, Pallets, other materials)
  • Previous experience operating refuse collection vehicles e.g. (Rotator truck)
  • Previous experience operating a commercial recycling baler
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Must have the ability to prioritize daily duties
  • Must have excellent customer service skills
  • Must be a team-oriented worker with flexibility to assist fellow coworkers throughout campus
