Summary of Job Duties:

The TRIO Talent Search, Educational Opportunity Center and Upward Bound Programs are grant programs funded by the U.S. Department of Education to assist low-income, potential first-generation secondary youth and adults complete high school and enter into college or postsecondary school. The Project/Program Specialist for Talent Search and Upward Bound maintains the program administration records systems; maintains the student and performance database records tracking systems; assists in online tutoring and test preparation systems and prepares reports relating to program services. This position is governed by state and federal laws, and agency/institution policy.

Qualifications:

Required Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Education and/or Experience:

  • Preferred areas include education, higher education, communication, information technology, or related areas;

  • Experience in academic applications, academic and administrative online systems, and financial systems;

  • Experience in working with disadvantaged populations; experience in overcoming barriers similar to the target population.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the procurement, travel, and personnel records for the programs;

  • Produce newsletters, visual materials, and other electronic and paper documents for presentations, websites, and publications for program outreach;

  • Serve as a team member in assisting clients with online tutoring and test preparation components;

  • Provide database data entry; prepares database and online usage reports;

  • Develop program policy manuals;

  • Serve as point of contact for database and online maintenance;

  • Prepare mid-year and annual reports;

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in website software and operations, word press, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Blackboard, social media platforms, ZOOM;

  • Familiarity with the TRIO BLUMEN database;

  • Ability to utilize technology, social media, and database systems;

  • Ability to present ideas in user-friendly language to staff and students;

  • Ability to prepare and present oral and written information and reports;

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks and adhere to deadlines;

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, sensitivity to, and the ability to relate to program participants;

  • Ability to travel in-state and work outside of normal office hours, evenings, and weekends;

  • A valid driver’s license and a personal vehicle are required for travel.
