Job Description:

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:

 This position is responsible for supporting multiple research projects at the State and National level with transportation engineering. These activities include, but are not limited to: Data collection, Data Cleaning, Regression Model Development, Writing Python and R code, Writing Reports and Project Documentation, Presenting Results to Funding Agencies and at Conferences, Assisting with Mentoring Students, and Writing Papers. The successful applicant should have extensive prior knowledge and experience working with datasets from Iowa DOT, HSIS, Safety Management Methods and Approaches, and Applied Transportation Safety Research.

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an on-going basis without sponsorship.

Required Qualification:

PhD

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety analysis methods including Quasi-Induced Exposure, Before-After methods, etc.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of applied statistical methods (count regression, linear regression, discrete choice models, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience working with, processing, and cleaning real-world transportation datasets (particularly HSIS and other safety-related datasets)

  • Demonstrated experience processing VIN data to extract vehicle-level information.



This position is a one-year term with possibility of renewal based on the university funding and needs of the department.
