Description

The University of Chicago's Department of Surgery, Section of Transplant Surgery, is searching for a full-time associate or full professor. The appointee will be a fellowship-trained, experienced transplant surgeon to serve as the Surgical Director of Kidney Transplantation, with strategic initiatives to expand the program, experience with pediatric kidney transplant and living kidney donation and focus on enhancing outcomes. 

This position is oriented toward clinical leadership and innovation in kidney/pancreas transplantation, and a clinical practice with a primary focus in kidney transplantation.  Other duties will include teaching and supervision of trainees and students, and scholarly activity.

We especially welcome applicants with a history of outreach and programmatic advancement, success in clinical research and trials, and an interest in quality assurance and program improvement. Academic rank and compensation (including a generous package of fringe benefits) are dependent upon qualifications.

The Transplant Institute has nationally recognized research and education programs that build on collaborations throughout the University and is active in clinical operations and quality improvement in the Medical Center.

Prior to the start of employment, qualified applicants must: 1) have a medical doctorate or equivalent, 2) hold or be eligible for medical licensure in the State of Illinois. 3) be Board Certified or eligible by the American Board of Surgery or the foreign equivalent. Assessment of applicants will consider expertise in vascular access surgery and prior background in moderate to large volume transplant program settings.
