Job Summary

The International Melanoma Biorepository research laboratory has a collection of over 3000 tumor or blood samples from patients with melanoma and other skin cancers; provides clinically annotated patient samples, as well as other labs worldwide.  Samples include tumor tissue, blood, cell lines, and xenograft models.  Recently we have used next generation sequencing technology to analyze tumor and matched normal samples from patients with metastatic melanoma and over the next few years anticipate completing studies on many more samples!


The University of Colorado Denver Anschutz Medical Campus is seeking applications for a Professional Research Assistant.  This is a 60% time (24 hours per week) position with benefits, working with the Translational Melanoma Research group in the Division of Medical Oncology in Aurora, Colorado.  The PRA will be responsible for laboratory based translational research in melanoma, including conducting experiments, data interpretation and presentation, and other laboratory duties as assigned.  The position reports to Dr. William Robinson, MD, PhD.


Duties and Responsibilities

-Performing basic molecular biology lab techniques including but not limited to PCR, qPCR, western blotting, and nucleic acid extractions;

-Maintaining cell cultures and performing cell culture experiments such as viability assays, invasion assays, and transfections;

-General lab inventory, organization, and maintenance;

-Expected to attend and presentation of relevant research data at weekly lab and journal club meetings.


Working Conditions

The position requires 100% effort working within the secured research laboratory.  Note; working in the evening or working on weekends may be required and reviewed on a project-by-project basis within the research laboratory.  The position will require research laboratory bench work skills, moderate lifting of research laboratory supplies and good hand to eye coordination.
