Titans ASES Assistant Lead Instructor

Titans ASES Assistant Lead Instructor works with a group of up to 23 students, 1st-8th grade. Daily tasks consist of tutoring, homework assistance, and educational enrichment. This position serves as the role of an assistant supervisor to the staff on-site and assists the Site Coordinator with daily duties at the designated site. Titans ASES Assistant Lead Instructors must be available to work five (5) days a week (Monday-Friday) from approximately 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. for either district locations. For the Buena Park School District, this position requires open availability from 12:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Thursdays. For the Tustin Unified School District, this position requires open availability from 12:15 - 6:00 p.m. on WednesdaysIn both districts, there are other minimum day schedules throughout the year which require open availability from 12:00 p.m-6:00 p.m on those days.  Titans ASES Assistant Lead Instructors must have high energy, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to maintain a fun and organized atmosphere.

Essential Duties

  • Must implement all Titans ASES rules and procedures. 
  • Directly working with students is a must.
  • Provide tutoring and homework assistance to help students meet national standards.
  • Implement all Titans ASES curriculum: Buena Park : Readers Theater, Voices, Meet the Masters, Math Readers, Battle of the Books, STEM, Comic Books. Tustin : Meet the Masters, Readers Theater,  Math Readers and STEM. (Training will be provided.)  
  • Create and implement an engaging educational curriculum on a monthly basis upon approval of their direct supervisor. 
  • Provide students with educational enrichment which may include positive youth development strategies, recreation and prevention activities and the ability to teach youth positive life skills. 
  • Work collaboratively with staff members at site. 
  • Assistant Lead is responsible for any Titans ASES property such as curriculum and electronics that have been given to them or checked out for use. If these items are not returned or reported lost, the employee will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination.
  • Accurately track students’ progress using programmatic protocol.
  • Responsible to help guide other staff members to enhance their job performance. 
  • Ensures the program materials and equipment are available and working.
  • Ensures the students receive constant supervision and provides a safe and supported environment at all times. 
  • Must stay late when late child pick ups occur, regardless of the circumstances. 
  • Responsible for managing service learners, interns, and volunteers at site.
  • Ensures that the absent list gets sent to Program Assistant within 30 minutes of the program’s start time. 
  • Mandatory Must volunteer  6 hours (3 per semester) of  Professional Development Hours (PDH) by the end of April 2020. Extensions may be granted with prior approval from either the Program Director and Program Coordinator. 
  • Responsible to collect all attendance documents and any other documents needed at the end of programming everyday. 
  • Must display professionalism at all times.
  • Must attend all weekly staff meetings.
  • Responsible to support their supervisor by following their directions. 
  • Responsible for having their own vehicle of transportation. This position will require the use of their own vehicle from time to time transporting program equipment from sites or to report to other locations if needed.
  • Communicates regularly with the Site Coordinator regarding all aspects of the program at the designated site. 
  • Responsible to help guide other staff members to enhance their job performance. 
  • Responsible to clock in/out at the site’s desktop computer (Buena Park staff only)/on the app (Substitute & Tustin staff only) and complete timesheet on payroll week. 
  • Promotes an inclusive environment of teamwork and leads to ensure Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is practiced/applied in department operations, programs, and services
 OTHER DUTIES:
  • Performs other duties that are assigned throughout the year. 

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age                                                                                    
  • Supervisory skills a must. 
  • Ability to solely manage a classroom of 20-23 students. 
  • Understanding of behavior management and effective disciplinary techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Highly organized with exceptional interpersonal and partnering relationship skills.
  • Ability to keep track of all curriculum and binders at site.  
  • Enthusiastic and highly motivated. 
  • Proven leadership and team-building skills. 
  • Excellent time management skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Excel) and Google Drive (i.e. Docs, Sheets). 
  • Must pass the District Exam OR have 48 College Units Completed. 
  • Must have at least a 2.5 GPA, if enrolled in college as an undergrad. 
  • Must be flexible, team oriented, child focused, and wanting to make a difference in children’s lives.
  • Ability to promote and prioritize Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)
EDUCATION:
  • Must pass the District Exam OR have 48 College Units Completed.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Prolonged sitting in front of computer. Walking, talking, hearing, pulling, bending, may carry 10-15 pounds of objects/material, not exposed to extreme noise level, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands or arms, stoop, kneel, taste or smell.
