Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center (LCCC), founded in 1975, is a National Cancer Institute (NCl)-designated comprehensive cancer center. The Center’s mission is to reduce cancer occurrence and death in North Carolina and the nation through research, treatment, training, and outreach. 
The Tissue Culture Facility (TCF) which is UNC Lineberger’s most comprehensive and widely used core facility. The TCF is a full-service cell culture shared resource and provides Cancer Center members and UNC colleagues with a wide variety of services and products. The core’s services include centralized cell repository, 
screening/testing, and molecular biological support. TCF generates $3.0M in revenue each year.

Position Summary
The Tissue Culture Facility Manager will lead the daily business operations of our Tissue Culture Facility within Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center. The Tissue Culture Facility (TCF) is UNC Lineberger’s most comprehensive and utilized core facility. The TCF is a full-service cell culture shared resource that provides Lineberger members and UNC researchers with a wide variety of products and services.
This position will be responsible for overseeing all inventory in the TCF core and will manage par levels, expiration dates, iLabs portal for inventory management, and provide continued expertise to support the needs of PIs/Lab managers. This position will also track supply expenses and generate reports, review services, and supply levels to forecast revenue schedules. 
Additionally, this position will assess the core facility’s needs in order to report recommendations, ensuring service consumables are in stock, coordinating delivery of rotating consumables, scheduling equipment service, tracking incoming requests, and assigning projects to lab technicians as appropriate.
The position will also develop written documentation for core customers making them aware of operating procedures, core policies, and upcoming changes, serve as the primary point of contact for issues with products and services, and implement best business and lab practices to support Lineberger’s overall strategic goals.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related discipline; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Expertise in UNC purchasing policies and procedures.
- Experience in managing large inventory in multiple locations.
- Knowledge of FileMaker pro system for inventory management and billing.
- Ability to multi-task and work with PIs and post docs on their research needs.
- Contract analysis experience to assist with negotiation purposes.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
- Knowledge of general accounting and/or budget procedures.
